Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.- Prepare RFQ's and solicit quotations from automation suppliers. Evaluate supplier quotations to determine the best combination of technical solution, cost, and timing.- 20% - 25% Business Travel- Customer support medical sites for product introduction and ramp up support- Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.- Ability to present information to top management.- Manage automation suppliers through all phases of projects.- Provide on-site support during machine build, debug, and testing/qualification.- Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.- Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities.- Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and/or full automation. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.- Implement cost effective automation solution.- Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development timeline.- Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation. Conduct design-for-automation analysis and provide detailed recommendations.- Participate in design reviews and provide status reports as per established schedule.- Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment.- Impacts the long-term (annual) direction and financial or operational success of the function and/or site.- Approves and/or creates functional processes or technologies.
