Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties._*******Vehicle Operation********:- **Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules****:- **Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and keep supervisory informed of any issues****:- **Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Compile required reports****:- **Perform minor maintenance duties and keep assigned bus clean and fueled********Student Management********:- **Take student attendance on the school bus****:- **See that student's board and leave the bus, and cross the street in a safe and orderly manner.****:- **Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations****:- **Maintain discipline; Communicate with teachers and parents on a regular basis regarding student behavior while on bus********Safety********:- **Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses****:- **Maintain all emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crow bar and reflector.****:- **Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisory of any conditions that are not correctable immediately****:- **Install snow chains during inclement weather********Other********:- **Properly communicate with transportation office****:- **Operate bus during irregular hours as needed****:- **Keep safety certification current through training programs required****:- **Be honest, trustworthy and respectful****:- **Demonstrate sound work ethics and cultural sensitivity****:- **Be flexible********MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:*****Required Licenses or Certifications**:******:- **Must possess a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License and outstanding driving record****:- **Must possess a valid Texas School Bus Driving Safety certificate****:- **Must have an up to date medical physical********Required Knowledge of**:******:- **Highway and school bus regulations****:- **How to deal with the various needs of children****:- **Scheduling and record keeping system********Required Skill in**:******:- **Analytical and problem solving****:- **Time management****:- **Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills********Physical Demands / Work Environment**:******:- **Work requires sitting for long periods of time****:- **Intense concentration is required, particularly in poor driving conditions
