Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.**JOB TITLE & PURPOSE OF THE JOB****Job Title**: Legal Counsel****Purpose of the job**:Provide senior legal support and expertise with regard to legal issues arising out of the business activity with customers, partners, and subcontractors.**POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION****Organisation structure**:_ _Legal department**Reports directly to**:Head of Legal & Contract Management LAM**Other reporting to**:N/A**Direct reports**:N/A**Network & Links**Internal**- Legal & Compliance Function, Regional Cluster Teams, Tender & Bid Teams, Finance Function, Tender Control and Support Teams, Project Contract Managers, Sourcing Contract Managers**External**- Customers, Partners, Sub-contractors, Law firms, courts and dispute resolution instances.**ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIESThe position aims at supporting the business and the Head of Legal/ Head of Legal and Contract Management in all legal matters requiring senior legal expertise, in particular:**Key accountabilities**:- Prepare, review and negotiate contracts, or other legal documents with an acceptable level of risks- Support the business in all legal and contractual matters including claim management, dispute settlement- Contractual and legal evaluation of tender documents- Support the business in proactively managing and instructing litigation, arbitration or other dispute matters- Handling of corporate law matters- Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.**Performance measurements**:Objectives, targets and performance measurements are defined on a yearly basis in line with the company's financial targets, the General Counsel's objectives for the Legal, Compliance and Contract Management Function.**EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES & REQUIRED COMPETENCES****Educational Requirements**_**Mandatory**:- Law degree in business law (Master II)**Desirable**:LLM/ LLB**Experience****Mandatory**:- At least 7years of relevant experience in an international business environment or law firm.- Familiar with international contracts Previous exposure to international practice through studies or work experience- Familiar with public tenders Excellent English language skills**Desirable**:- Private practice experience in international law firm is a plus**Competencies & Skills***- Open-minded and solution oriented- Teamwork spirit- ability to provide sound risk analysis and reasoning- Willingness to take initiatives and responsibilities Pro-activity & responsiveness- Resilience- Business mindedYou don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us.
