The Role: As the New Product Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the ideation, development, and launch of innovative supplements and food products. You will lead the end-to-end product development process, overseeing market research, technical and functional development, regulatory compliance, and process launch. The ideal candidate has strong scientific, food development, and regulatory compliance experience and a solid academic background in food science, biotechnology, or a related field. Responsabilities and Activities: Lead the end-to-end product development process, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets. Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and consumer needs, driving innovative product concepts. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop product specifications and formulations that meet quality standards and align with customer expectations. Lead the technical aspect of product development, optimizing nutrition, functionality, shelf-life, and organoleptic properties. Conduct organoleptic testing and sensory evaluations to enhance product taste, texture, and overall consumer experience. Conduct in-depth research on ingredients and formulations, ensuring the development of safe and effective products with scientific backing. Drive proprietary ingredient innovation projects, either in-house or through partnerships, to secure best-in-class ingredients for Birdman. Lead the regulatory function, ensuring full compliance with local and international regulations for all products. Develop and implement robust processes for product scale-up, facilitating a smooth transition from development to manufacturing. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot challenges and maintain consistent product quality and performance. Collaborate with procurement to optimize product formulations, costings, and ingredient selection, simplifying logistics and fostering sustainability. Establish relationships with suppliers to access high-quality and innovative ingredients. Monitor market performance, sales trends, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements and new introductions. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g., nutritional science, food science, biotechnology) is required; a master's or Ph.D. degree is preferred. At least 5 years experience in research and development as a manager within the supplements, nutrition, or related industries, focusing on new product development. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in the supplements industry, including FDA guidelines and labeling regulations. Experience in conducting organoleptic testing and sensory evaluations to optimize product attributes. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Strategic thinker with a keen eye for market trends, consumer insights, and competitive landscape. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Desired Requirements: Academic excellence. MBA.
