A. Manage projects and engineering related functions of top cost out projects, including evaluating financial, market and technical feasibility, developing and executing test plans, and design changes.
B. Build and maintain an active pipeline of VAVE projects, including footprint optimization across all of Bussmann UL.
C. Coordinate with marketing, supply chain and engineering, evaluate competing products and lead the initiative to gain insight to cost opportunities which may be applied to Eaton products.
D. Lead cross functional VAVE events to identify potential, actionable changes to design, material selection, etc. that lead to cost improvements through the engineering process.
E. Follow and/or lead VAVE engineering projects through to completion to ensure cost improvement results are delivered.
F. Report on VAVE project status, progress and pipeline to all stakeholders; escalate where necessary.
G. Ensure all cost out project leaders in plant portfolios follow standard procedures as prescribed by the divisional cost out team.
H. Ensure data integrity of projects within Bussmann UL portfolio.
I. Work together with VAVE director and engineering manager to develop standards for improved processes and tools.
J. Work with Supply chain to develop supplier-based negotiation strategies and implement – pulling together quote packages, coordinating RFQs, and following through on quote analysis.
K. A highly entrepreneurial sense of urgency along with a passion for the continuous improvement is desirable, along with a drive to grow both personally and professionally.
L. Leads and facilitates cross functional teams in Kaizen, VAVE and Supplier Cost out events.
M. Mentor peers on prioritization of projects and use of best practices.
Qualifications

A. Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
B. Direct or indirect management of people experience.
C. Experience managing large VAVE or cost out and footprint projects using project management fundamentals.
D. Minimum 8-10 years’ work experience in engineering or a manufacturing environment.
E. Ability to be self-directed, question the status quo, and a change agent.
F. Six Sigma Method and Tools (Greenbelt certification)
G. Bilingual in English and Spanish

Preferred Qualifications
H. Six Sigma Method and Tools (Black Belt certification)
I. Master’s in Business Administration or equivalent.

Position Criteria
J. Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as material management, manufacturing operations, cost accounting, quality processes and procedures, project management and Lean manufacturing.
K. Ability to interface and work with Operations, Supply Chain and Design Engineering to achieve VAVE cost and/or productivity improvements.
L. Confident working with senior plant and operations leaders throughout the organization.
M. Understanding of engineering concepts and ability to read, pull engineering documented drawings and certification documents.
N. Understanding of manufacturing and product cost accounting is fundamental to the position.
O. Proficiency with application software packages such MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Enovia, SAP, Qlikview, CAD design and statistical analysis is required.
P. Good Communication, presentation, interpersonal and professional presence with internal/external customers and suppliers.
Q. Must achieve results through others not directly in reporting structure.
R. Ability to explain and train others on VAVE concepts.
