Date: Nov 2, 2023- Location: Mazapil, Zacatecas, MX (Mexico)**Job Location: Empleados Peñasquito Mine Site****Job Grade: 108****Employee Referral Amount: Mexican Peso****About this role**:The Tailings, Infrastructure, and Engineering Manager leads the safe and effective operation and care of assets within the tailings storage facility (TSF), water storage facilities, and freshwater extraction and supply system at the Peñasquito Mine. This role also oversees the mine infrastructure, which includes potable water and wastewater treatment plants, solid and hazardous waste collection and disposal, light-vehicle road maintenance as well as community- and site-based capital projects at Peñasquito. This position reports to the Mine General Manager.**In this role you will**:Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:- Implement a culture of Zero Harm and job workplace standards.- Confirm that the Peñasquito TSF and water storage facilities are constructed and operated per local standards, Newmont standards, and international Guidelines (e.g., Global Tailings Standard).- Ensure that objectives and KPIs are set and tracked by the tailings, infrastructure, and engineering teams.- Ensure that tailings and freshwater personnel are receiving training per Peñasquito training program and standards.- Actively contribute to hands-on training, mentoring, and coaching of national employees as part of the succession planning.- Ensure that the direct reports are actively engaged in employee development as part of their succession plans.- Ensure that the Operations, Maintenance, and Surveillance Manuals for the Peñasquito TSF and water storage facilities are followed and updated on an annual basis.- Ensure that the Critical Control Verification Reports for the TSF and applicable water storage facilities are completed and sent to Corporate Tailings Representatives on a monthly basis.- Responsible for the governance of the TSF water storage facilities,including assurance that the MGM, corporate Tailings experts, Engineer of Record, and Independent Technical Review Board are informed of kept informed of dam operation and construction status and pending action items.- Responsible for the development and implementation of the emergency response plan for Peñasquito TSF.- Contribute to the development of best practices in work identification, planning, scheduling, and reporting processes.- Develop and foster a work culture within the group with emphasis on safe, efficient, and financially aware work practices, focused on continuous improvement and achievement.- Conduct performance evaluations of work group team members.- Responsible for the annual BP, budgeting, and forecasting for the TIE teams.- Ensure that the Peñasquito potable water and wastewater treatment plants operate per local and Newmont water quality standards.- Ensure that the Peñasquito solid and hazardous waste management and disposal is done according to local and Newmont standards.- Participate as a member of the SLT to keep informed and to identify opportunities for synergy and efficiency.- Facilitate the development and execution of Full Potential projects to identify and bring forward additional benefits to the mine.- Ensure that the planning and implementation of community infrastructure and onsite capital projects are done per Newmont standards.- Ensure that community- and site-based capital projects are properly resourced and funded.The above responsibilities are the main responsibilities of the position. The position also develops other activities that are not included in this document and the immediate supervisor is responsible for informing such activities.**Your Training, skills & Experience checklist**:Here is what we would need to see from you!**Education**- Engineering degree in Mining, Metallurgy, Civil, or mechanical.**Experience**- A minimum of 10 to 15 years' experience in mining industry or related field.- 5+ years' experience in Tailings or Fresh Water management roles.- Familiarity with and understanding water supply and distribution management practices, ground water supply and water pumping.- Strong familiarity with hydrogeology and geo-technics.- Knowledge and understanding of regulations applicable to management of tailings facilities, freshwater extraction, and mine site operations.**Skills and abilities**- Effective communication skills, able to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish- Strong technical and analytical skills centered around planning, cost control, monitoring, instrumentation, QA/QC, and reporting.- Has a proven track record of managing several activities or projects at the same time and in an efficient manner.- Demonstrated abilities and leadership to meet and comply with challenging and changing production targets.- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty/key responsibility satisfactorily.*
