Job Description Flex Toronto, located in Markham, Ontario, is a fast-paced design center servicing global customers in the automotive sector. The Sr. Embedded Software (Firmware) Engineer - Connectivity will be based in Markham, Ontario. The ideal candidate will drive and implement Software Engineer (SWE) activities as part of a project team in order to create a comprehensive and consistent software for the product. We are looking for someone who demonstrates Intense collaboration Passionate customer focus Thoughtful, fast, disciplined execution Tenacious commitment to continuous improvement Relentless drive to win Here is a glimpse of what youll do Responsible for the Embedded Software Design and Development as part of a Connectivity Software Project(s) team Analyze, estimate, derive and develop Software Requirements based on system requirements, review these with Core software engineering and support acceptance with Customer prior implementation Architect, design and implement software modules as requested by the project following global software engineering standards and best practices Implement all functional safety related software according to ISO 26262 in the relevant phases of the project life cycle Collaborate with project managers, architects, experts, developers for software safety tasks Support the project teams to perform the safety analysis for the software Perform software integration and prepare related reports Perform static analysis, unit testing and prepare related reports Plan software releases along with core software engineering team for the assigned projects Install and configure the development environment including code generation (build scripts, make files,etc.) and debug platform, execute software debug Perform and support calibration activities, analysis and reporting Support validation of software requirements and perform coverage analysis Confer with other engineering and core software team members on a regular basis to ensure all aspects of the requirements are coming together seamlessly Participate in software gate reviews along with Flex engineering and support requirements mitigation / issue tracking / planning Review - requirements, design, model, test strategy, test report focusing safety requirements Co-ordinate safety assessment, audits Evaluate customer safety specifications and translate the requirement and support safety reviews from OEM Here is some of what youll need (required) Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering (MS preferred) or similar degree Minimum 5 years experience in embedded software controller design in the Automotive industry, including HW bring-up and testing, development involving GPIO, ADC, Timers, PWM, Clocks, memory management systems, file systems, and memory protection algorithms Familiarity with Software Development Cycle (V-Cycle) for Automotive SPICE and/or CMMi Knowledgeable about Software Configuration and Change Control Management like Git, Jira, Polarion or similar ALM/CM/RM tools Great communication skills, an ability to effectively communicate internally with technical experts Here are a few of our preferred experiences Experience in Automotive Telematics, Infotainment, vehicle control modules, etc. Knowledge of Automotive Functional Safety requirements (ISO26262) Experience with AUTOSAR development Knowledgeable in one of the Vehicle Network Architecture such as Chrysler PowerNET, FIAT CAN-I, Ford FNOS, GM GMLAN, Daimler SLP10 Knowledgeable of Vehicle Diagnostics standards UDS ISO 14229, KWP2000 and related tools CANdela Studio, CANDiVA Here are a few examples of what youll get for the great work you provide Medical, dental and vision benefits; option of basic or enhanced plan Life Insurance RRSP PTO paid time off Access to learning content in our Learning Management System thousands of online courses, everything from project management to interpersonal skills to Lean concepts you can continue to build on your knowledge and development by accessing our extensive Learning Management System and its content Personal Spending Amount for wellness, ex gym membership, fitness classes, etc. #LI-JZ1 Job CategoryDesign & Technology Flex does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies or fee based recruitment services.
