Role Purpose
To effectively manage commercial staff and/or undertake the daily commercial management and administration of the project supply chain to achieve stated business objectives on one or more projects including larger, more complex projects.
To provide commercial assistance on issues which arise with the project’s customers to facilitate delivery of Shepherd Engineering Services (SES) projects.
Key Accountabilities
To positively promote the company to external parties.
To positively promote new relationships and new customers for SES as well as maintaining existing relationships.
To promote business improvement through the development and improvement of business systems.
Manage or undertake the Setting up, maintaining and being responsible for company operations pertaining to all commercial aspects of a construction project under your management including (but not limited to): –
Post tender/Pre-Contract Systems
Value Engineering/2-25-50
Procurement Schedules
Risk Assessment/Management Systems
Forecasting/Trade Up
Costing and payment of Sub-subcontractors and costing financial liabilities
Valuations/Cashflow/Payment
Procurement Forms (Bid Analysis, Set Up Forms etc)
Variations/Change Instructions (Customer and Supply chain)
Extensions of Time and/or Loss and Expense
Engage in (as required) divisional/national business operations and management.
Attend internal and external project meetings (including but not limited to commercial), provide commercial advice to project teams and be responsible for the commercial aspects of the construction project promoting the company’s positive behaviours.
To be responsible for the production of commercial reports both internally and external to the company and to ensure the proper formal notifications are raised to ensure company compliance with legislation, the terms of engagement and best practice.
Ensure the timely receipt of quotations for materials, equipment and Sub-subcontract works, undertake commercial assessment of quotes received and ensure the timely placement of orders on commercially advantageous terms to facilitate project delivery and ensure business objectives are met.
Actively engage with National Procurement to obtain the best commercial procurement position for SES.
Manage/undertake responsibility for the effective cost management of the project within the SES project supply chain to achieve business objectives.
