Rail Operations Analyst position has the mainobjective to coordinate vehicle Rail Operations for all the import, export andintra movements in GM sites, Vehicle Distribution Centers and Ports.
Rail Analyst is the principal liaisonbetween GM Yards / Port Managers and Railroads Companies.
Rail operation analyst is responsible for:
Production schedule analysis and variations.
Coordinate Rail Daily Operations in all sites.
Request and level the empty railcars supply needed based on GM production schedule and arrivals on the ports.
Cost Optimization on all rail routes, overtime reduction and headcount effectiveness.
Level the railcars loaded provided by each railroad.
Work with suppliers and GMNA to make action plans that prevents stoppage times at each location.
Achieve Revenue Recognition Goals.
Exceed Customer expectations by delivering their cars on time.
Active support on GM launches and projects.
Follow up FIFO to avoid aging on units.
Proficient communication skills are a must.
Leadership and commitment to GM objectives.
Manage daily rail operations to ensure the accomplishment of our loading plans.
Coordinate train calls to prevent stoppage time in our yards caused by congestion or lack of empties.
Railcar follow up and transit time validation for each market and site.
Work on a weekly basis with VSSM objectives and GMNA yards to move all import vehicles on time considering short shipments penalties of urgent units.
Inform to supervisor and manager any deviations in our loading programs.
Ensure the railcar crossings working side by side with GM Customs and MX/USA brokers to avoid demurrages charges and stoppages.
Request and follow up on a daily basis, empties south of the border, bilevels crossing and analyze railroads Equity.
Analysis of current inventories, production and sales forecasts to determine the railcar supply requirements at each GM location (plants, ports, and VDC).
Responsible for daily reports in regards current inventories and loading programs for each GM location.
Maintains data integrity within GMM and the railroads.
Responsible for making decisions on the resolution of issues that impact on-timeand safe movement of our vehicles.
Analysis of data and document rail service failures in order to provide metrics to the railroads; identify issues and take corrective action to improve the service.
Develop and implement recommendations and improvements on rail operations.
Improve communication skills between our yard managers and railroad companies.
Avoid aging on Rail inventories.
Level the current inventories in all sites avoiding yard congestion and execute contingency plans that include external sites evaluation, route implementation and provide to GM the most efficient and cost-effective scenarios.
Ensure correct timing for unloading operation at VDC and Ramos VDC from all markets to avoid aging on the railcars and vandalism on units.
Validate achievement of contracted transit times for each Route utilized by GM.
Coordinate the reception of high volume of imports from Lazaro and Veracruz into Mexico by rail. Optimize rail operation in case of high volume receptions.
Direct contact with GMNA to level and plan shipments from both countries to avoid congestions. (Embargos, Metering plans and ramp diversions)
Empty supply assurance at ports to avoid the aging and rust condition.
Sinergy with Intercontinental team to achieve import and export vessel programs.
Generate reports and coordinate meetings to make sure daily operations are accomplished.
Work with both railroads to avoid IMBALANCE (supplied vs loaded).
COST REDUCTIONS AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Audit railcar costs. Notify the railroads if there are any rail billing issues and provide correct information to them.
Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
Active involvement on any initiative or infrastructure improvement of GM sites that can generate benefits and cost reductions.
ANALYSIS AND FORECAST
Analyze production variation in all sites to prevent impacts on our shipping plans.
Develop Forecasts using production schedules to plan operations, head count needed, rail supply and prevent issues ahead of time.
Generate different scenarios that include the shipping plans for each GM complex, analysis of the production, empty supply needed, cost optimization, penalties generated and contingencies plans to achieve our Revenue Recognition Target and budget (Sinergy with Intercontinental team)
Knowledge of the Global Logistics Finished Vehicle Network (preferred)
Knowledge rail and yard management industries (preferred)
Working knowledge of key customer (VSSM, Order Fulfillment and Fleet & Commercial) functions and responsibilities.
Inventory control, Master Production Schedule.
Urgency sense, proactive and able to deal withambiguity, objective, focused in results, high level analytical ability insituations where problems are complex, action orientated, approachability,confronting direct reports, customer focus, timely decision making, developingdirect reports and others, building effective teams,
Work experience in Transportation and/or SupplyChain Management (preferred)
Highly proficient computer skills - Excel, Word,PowerPoint, MGO (preferred), SAP (preferred)
