Recently established in Mexico, the Novartis Global Service Centre delivers a broad variety of services including scientific and commercial services (known as Product Lifecycle Services), Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations, IT, HR Operations and Procurement to the Novartis divisions and organizations worldwide.

The Payment Specialist is managing third party and inter-company payment activities within the NGSC ensuring its quality, compliance and effectiveness. This role supports having systems, documentation, compliance and reporting in place and supports continuous improvement projects to provide highly effective and efficient end-to-end processes to the Alcon division in CANADA.
•Support Payment Manager in the definition and documentation of standard processes within his/her area of responsibility.
•Support continuous improvement programs, monitor and report respective progress.
•Support transition, project progress and critical deliverables such as knowledge transfer.
•Support alignment of existing processes to standards.
•Support improvement initiatives of reduction of manual payment usage.
•Support onboarding process of new team members.
•Support continuous improvement of services in quality and effectiveness in close collaboration with line managers and peers.
•Support troubleshooting of existing problems and respective permanent solutions.
•Proactively challenge the status quo and present fact based recommendations.
•Provide assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to payment processes and system solutions.
•Support the measurement and delivery of service levels and KPI targets.
•Actively contribute to an effective sharing of knowledge and of best practices within the organization.
•Day to day activities: Process accurately third party and inter-company payables for vendors/suppliers within defined payment calendars.
•Timely follow and control the life cycle of payments.
•Ensure proper document management (e.g. return payments, rejections).
•Manage payment issues and handle related inquiries.
•Act as a single point of contact for any unresolved inquiries for assigned scope of responsibilities.
•Ensure execution in full compliance with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), Novartis Financial Controls Manual (NFCM) and regulatory requirements.
•Ensure application of agreed Novartis control procedures and actively support to deliver SOX certification.
•Support strong control environment, follows up on audit issues and support to implement correcting measures.
•Certified Finance/Accounting Specialist or similar degree.
•Spanish, English and French (written and spoken).
•SAP and JDE knowledge.
•+1 year of experience in similar position in a Shared Service Center environment.
•Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national, matrix organization.
•Project Management exposure advantageous.
•The position requires a self-driven, diligent, compliance mindset.
