The enhanced approvals and vetting would need to be completed before the candidate will be confirmed in the role.Head of GBM IT LAMRolePurpose:The GBM CIO LAM role is responsible for leading, managing and directing staff within the technology GBM area; usually through several teams of Senior Managers and Principal Development Specialists whose teams typically perform system development work and system analysis. This can include both the development of new functions and facilities and the on-going systems support of live systems.This role has a balance between clearly communicating the business strategy and requirements and high level performance expectations in operational execution of the relevant Development/IT area. Provide future direction of system design, development, implementation and maintenance activities to drive business improvements;
Deploy resources effectively to ensure implementation on time and in budget with appropriate quality and to ensure the correction of live issues with the minimum disruption to the business;

On target delivery with agreed levels of functionality of committed projects, ensuring project progress, adherence and risk information is available to business management at all times
Actively market IT as a service to the business, communicating to business heads the skills and services available

Continue overall ownership of client relationships after initial investment
Work with IT Planning and Finance to set the cost of services, and work with the business to maximise the business value of technical spend
Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behaviour
Manage expense control procedures for IT, identifying and implementing cost savings and administrative/internal controls
Interface directly with business management in matters of IT billing and overall technology spending, providing the most effective technology for cost structure
Introduce new techniques, products, services, technologies and standards where needed
Implement strong planning and resource forecasting techniques
Help the business to grow new products and increase P&L
Customers/StakeholdersImplement strong planning and resource forecasting techniques;
Engage and manage relationships with third party suppliers;
Ensure the delivery of excellent internal customer service from LATAM HTS GBM IT area to the different business lines within GBM
Leadership and TeamworkInfluence project definition, injecting a broader view, review relevant projects, assessing the level of strategic alignment and risk, and playing a leading role in resolving any issues that arise;
Develop employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise, ensuring provision of appropriate coaching and training solutions;
Participate in bid management in conjunction with Group Purchasing and Group Legal.
Operational Effectiveness and ControlDirect the development and global implementation of policy and standards for the Group’s IT software development with the objective of improving quality whilst increasing cost-effectiveness and achieving excellent levels of risk-management;
Participate in setting strategic business direction, identifying how systems should be used for business advantage;
Implement strong planning and resource forecasting techniques;

This role reports to Americas function and is accountable for the delivery of the global and local GBM initiatives.
Role ContextAs an emerging market, Mexico provides a very complex, and yet competitive financial services market. HBMX´s place within Mexico, as a provider of a broad range of financial services and products also increases complexity. Finally, the evolving nature of financial services regulation both domestically and internationally mean that HBMX must be fully compliant with regulations which change frequently. Working collaboratively with HBMX colleagues is crucial.
HBMX is a significant contributor to the overall success of HSBC in LAM and a continued focus on creating a strong regional bank to compete with other regional banks is crucial.
Management of RiskMaintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training are in place and training is provided, and optimising relations with regulators.Observation of Internal ControlsMaintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by the internal/external auditors and external regulators.
