These roles will have the following accountabilities:Proactively liaising with federal and local authorities with the purpose of mitigating permitting delays, community unrest, and seeking business development opportunities through government
Research and analyze data generated in political and governmental circles related to TransCanada issues
Positioning TransCanada in a positive manner within incoming government bureaucracies
Generating an understanding of underlying interests that affect on-going projects and the actors that can be leveraged to successfully and economically satisfy these concerns
Keeps abreast of trends and developments in government policy and legislation through research, analysis and interpretation
Conducts, organizes and synthesizes large amounts of qualitative and quantitative objective and non-partisan analysis of legislation and policy issues that may be complex or controversial. Communicates the results of the analysis in a non-biased manner that makes issues easy for decision makers to understand.
Qualifications:Proven experience of 8 to 10 years working alongside federal, state, and municipal government authorities.
Cultivate relationships with congressional sources and government agencies for informational, and document source purposes and helping colleagues do the same
Familiarity with Congress and the legislative process and knowledge of congressional operations, procedure and policymaking
Understands the legislative drafting and amending process, as well as the associated legal language
Experience in federal government at a Director-level function
Excellent drafting, writing, negotiating, problem solving, and communications skills
Familiar with Government relations in Mexico, from municipal to federal levels;
Ability to work under pressure and deal with constant changing situations
Have a keen understanding of federal and state government bureaucracies as well as political circles
Experience working in government bureaucracies outside of Mexico City
Background in social sciences with graduate degree preferred
Immediate availability is required
Willing to travel to project locations up to 70% of the time
