The Opportunity:

TheController, Mexico Operationsis responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mexico accounting department, tax and legal obligations. The position has a solid understanding of the business and its transactional and contractual obligations.

TheController, Mexico Operationsis responsible for the accounting, cash flows and taxes for the three RBA Mexico companies (Auction, Services and Properties).

In this role you’ll:

Key Responsibilities:
Maintains a solid understanding of the business, its transactional and contractual obligations and becomes directly involved in specific business issues and their resolution.
Oversight and management of all Mexico operational accounting systems, processes and procedures.
Ensures compliance of systems, processes and procedures in accordance with Mexico FRS.
Ensure Mexico financial results are reported accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP, corporate and regulatory, and tax and legal requirements.
Preparation of monthly and quarterly audit working papers according to corporate requirements ensuring accurate and on-time reporting.
Analysis of key balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
Prepare Mexico Operational Accounting departmental budgets, monitor actual results against plan.
Supervise and mentor direct reports, maximizing individual strengths and striving for excellence in customer service
Other Responsibilities:Treasury:
Monitor cash flows for three companies and provide weekly report to Corporate Treasury. Interact with Treasury for the provision of intercompany loans when required.
Manage local banking relationships ensuring RBA receives high levels of customer service.
Daily investment of excess cash in Banamex bank account.
Accounts Receivable - In addition to direct supervision of AR personnel and validation/approval of all AR transactions:
Ensure digital invoices are created and submitted in accordance with SAT requirements.
Ensure inter-company balancing.
Auction sale support - Review and confirm bidder deposits and buyer payments.
Accounts Payable & Settlements - In addition to direct supervision of AP & Settlements personnel and validation/approval of all AP & Settlements transactions:
Preparation of interco company invoice of rent of yard and office (730 to 720)
Preparation of interco company invoice for payroll & payroll taxes (710 to 720)
Attend all audits and notifications made by tax authorities as the legal representative for fiscal issues.
Provide tax planning expertise to minimize income and flat taxes payable.
Calculate and pay all federal taxes for the three Mexico companies (VAT, Income tax, flat tax and withholding); provide provisional tax statement.
Review and send the annual tax statement and statutory tax report.
Manage applications for tax recoveries for balances in favor (VAT, Income tax and flat rate business, cash deposit tax, etc)
Tax reporting includes but is not limited to: Annual economic report of foreign investment, annual withholding, monthly supplier payments, annual payments to foreign residents (related parties), Members information reporting.
Control and care of digital certificates and stamps.
Manage annual transfer pricing study.
Code and pay social security.
Ensure provision for seniority and indemnity plans are accurately reflected in financials.
Provide the social security institute with annual workers’ compensation report.
Provide the Housing fund institute (Infonavit) with the statutory tax report.
Other duties:
Participation in special projects, committees.
Some travel and occasional overtime hours
Control and payment of toll road cards (IAVE- each 10 days)
Control and payment of fuel cards (Efectivale – Monthly)
Supports auction activities
In charge to get and pay the bill of Property taxes (Predial)
Here’s what you bring:
XCP, LCP or CPC designate with 3-5 five years post qualification experience, preferably in industry.
4 year Accounting degree required.
3-5 years experience in management role.
8-10 years of directly related experience.
Effective leadership, proven ability to supervise in a team environment.
Proven ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external customers.
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills with ability to prioritize in a demanding environment.
Strong communication, creativity and problem solving skills. Intermediate proficiency in the English language.
Solid work ethic without sacrificing your sense of humour or your ability to get the job done while having fun!
Intermediate to advanced Excel, Word, MS Office.
Experience working with ERP systems
