In all these ways and many more, Caterpillar engineers conceptualize ideas that become real-world products in our factories—and make progress possible around the globe.Job Purpose:Support and lead projects to develop and maintain electro-magnetic control valves for machines and/or engines. Develop and manage firmware for valves that have embedded controls. Independently conduct hands on testing in component and engine labs. Facilitate in the creation and maintenance of DFMEA, DVP& R, and Boundary Diagram & Interface Analysis. Create and manage 3D Solid Models. Work with the teams in USA, China, and India to release and manage drawings. Manage quality reporting tools to look for field issue trends and put business cases together to solve emerging issues. Support and lead teams to resolve field issues, reduce cost, and manage other project type as needed to support the electro-magnetic control valve product lines. Work with local suppliers to resolve issues and maintain high quality products.Develop high-quality electronic/electrical component product lines for engine and machine systems that meet complex requirements and low cost producer (LCP) targets. Partner with suppliers to deliver production components and help the systems engineers integrate successfully into various applications. This is the third career level in engineering and represents a shift from learning and assisting to fully contributing in assignments that are broader, more complex, and challenging in nature.Job Duties:For Caterpillar, digital means using technology to extract data from our machines and engines and transform it into valuable recommendations or “insights,” to help customers make better, more informed decisions and help Caterpillar make robust products with the lowest total ownership cost. Our products generate and process large amounts of data from sensors, on-board models, and control algorithms in real-time creating real-world machine usage information. Electronic Components/Platforms are key enabling technologies for the overall digital strategy. Key electronic component technologies provide the foundational technology building blocks that enable valuable data to be gathered from machines and engines.The Electronic Components/Platforms Engineer develops, improves, and troubleshoots electronic/electrical hardware used in an array of engine and machine systems. This generally includes the development of product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout development, and platform verification and validation. Some or all of these activities may be performed in partnership with a supplier including the manufacturing plan and process development. This position conceives and provides practical product design applications using complex technical principles. Emphasis of this position is on creating concepts and directing the design and development of complex engineering projects. The position responsibilities include a strong focus on quality through simulation, analysis, verification, and validation testing at the component level, subsystem, and system level. Advanced troubleshooting and analysis skills are needed to resolve complex development and field issues and to improve overall performance and cost.Basic Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics)* Fluent English* 3+ years of experience in embedded electronic hardware development* Excellent analytical skills* Ability to perform complex assignments* Strong technical leadership skills* Strong problem-solving skills* Ability to communicate technical information effectivelyTop Candidates Will Also Have: * The ideal candidate will have BOTH Mechanical and Electrical Engineering background.
