Job Description:
The Business Developer is the sales & marketing responsible to implement and develop new specifications for 3M products in the automotive market in direct collaboration with the Key Account Leader and the Tier Sales Representative. The business developer also leads the localization and implementation of the programs specified in the primary design and engineering centers around the world which requires close collaboration with the 3M Global Teams.
He/She is also responsible for new product launches as well as identifying and exploring new market opportunities/solutions within the current 3M portfolio at Automotive OEMs and Tiers. Responsibilities include accountability for the financial P&L results of his/her specific commodities driving pricing and portfolio mix initiatives to optimize operating income results. The position calls for strong communication skills and fluent written and spoken English with knowledge of business terms. Interaction with Global Business Development Teams, Global Key Account Teams, local R&D organization, Finance Controller, Customer Service Executives, Supply and Demand Planners, Quality Engineers, local Key Account Leaders and Sales Force as well as Business Managers and Directors is constant in this position.
The BDM must be also responsible to promote 3M brand at the Automotive Industry (Auto OEMs, Automotive tiers, Engineering & Design centers). The areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, brand awareness events and strategies: Technical Shows, Catalogs, samples & Sampling boxes, e-marketing, sales tool (videos, flyers, and technical descriptions). All branding, industry training and business models will align with the strategies set in the marketing plans designed by the Business Developer.
Responsible to identify and develop new business opportunities at engineering centers.
Work with 3rd parties to implement 3M applications on new and existing platforms.
Pricing analysis and homologation for automotive OEM’s, integrators and tiers.
Generate P&Ls from business side to quote “direct sales” projects
Generate P&Ls of AASD products supporting sales force
Obtain new specifications for 3M products at local engineering and design centers
Coordinate different 3M departments to fulfill customer needs (NPI, maquila projects, etc.) acting as a program manager for new applications
Main contact to 3M global teams for all the AASD projects (specific to his/her commodities)
Broad the 3M presence at engineering centers, educating customers on the 3M solutions portfolio
Program management for localization projects sharing ownership with Key Account Leaders
Keep close communication with 3M sources of supply within the AASD organization.Metrics:

Non-Working Inventory, forecasting and adequate stock levels.
Organic Growth Sales
Market Share and Penetration
3M product specifications obtained from engineering centers
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related major
A minimum of 2 year relevant working experience in sales in the automotive industry or B2B marketing
Fluent written and spoken English (technical and business)
Basic to advanced computer skills.
Proven knowledge on specification processes (preferably in automotive industry)
